Tamara Pincus is a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience in mental health treatment. She has maintained a private practice specializing in sex therapy since 2011. She is an AASECT certified sex therapist with a specialty in working with kinky, polyamorous and LGBTQIA+ clients. Her practice has a commitment to racial justice. She has experience using cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, mindfulness and imago approaches in therapy with individuals and people in relationships. She has a certification in working with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders.

Tamara has worked in agencies for the homeless and chronically mentally ill and has worked in direct service, management, and quality improvement. She has provided individual and relationship as well as group treatment and assessment to a diverse group of clients in terms of race, sexual orientation, gender orientation and presenting problems. Tamara also speaks at conferences around sexuality and mental health treatment issues.

Tamara has extensive experience working with anxiety and depression as well as a variety of sexual and relationship issues. She has a special interest in supporting individuals through issues related to sexual exploration, sexual functioning, sexual identity, and gender identity. Tamara also has a commitment to body positivity and size acceptance and enjoys working with clients to help them make peace with their bodies. Clients who are in consensually non- monogamous, swinger, polyamorous and/or kink relationships are welcome.

She offers clinical supervision for clinicians working towards their license in clinical social work or counseling and runs a group for therapists specializing in working with kink-identified and polyamorous clients. She does a variety of public speaking engagements including talks about ethics in working in small alternative sexuality communities, treating kink-identified clients, working with consensually non-monogamous or polyamorous clients, Health at Every Size, “ask the sex therapist”, and more.
