Experience and Background of Allison Shuff, MSW, LGSW (she/her)

Being a human can be heavy, but you don’t have to carry the load alone. Using a trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming perspective, I work with teens, individuals, and couples at any stage in their healing journey. The foundations of my practice are empathy, sex-positivity, and support for all identities from an anti-oppressive standpoint. I am never the expert in the session. Instead, I act as a guide towards better understanding oneself while providing the safety and security for healing, whatever that may look like.

As a queer and neurodivergent woman, I strive to provide a space that is supportive of all identities and sensory needs. Working from a strengths-based approach, I utilize tools and techniques from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, and skills rooted in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). I also have training in mindfulness-based therapy and emotionally focused therapy for couples. While I understand the impact that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can have on us, I also operate with an understanding that the world we live in has a profound effect on our well-being and ability to heal. I welcome anyone looking to better understand themselves, their past-trauma, or simply navigate the daily stressors of being a human.

I see clients age 13 and up addressing concerns related to ADHD, autism, (complex) trauma, sexuality, relationships, LGBTQIA+ identities, ethical non-monogamy, and body image. I work with couples and other relationship dynamics from an attachment and emotionally focused lens. I am currently under the supervision of Tamara Pincus while working towards independent licensure. In my free time I enjoy live music, mindful walks in nature, playing with my cats, and indulging in reality TV. Please reach out to learn more or start working together towards any and all of your goals.
