Experience and Background of Allison Shuff, MSW, LGSW (she/her)
As a clinician, my aim is to provide support and understanding while also not being afraid to point out where change is possible. The foundations of my work are empathy, sex-positivity, and support for all genders, sexualities, and romantic relationships. I work from a trauma informed and neurodivergent affirming standpoint. I am never the expert in the session, instead, I act as a guide towards better understanding the self while providing the support for healing.
As a queer and neurodivergent woman, I strive to provide a space that is safe and supportive of all identities and sensory needs. I have experience working in one-on-one and group settings, utilizing tools and techniques from modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and skills rooted in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). While I understand the impact that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can have on us, I also operate with an understanding that the world we live in has a profound effect on our well-being and ability to heal. I welcome anyone looking to better understand themselves, their past-trauma, or simply navigate the daily stressors of being a human.
I see clients age 13 and up to address concerns related to ADHD, autism, social anxiety, body image, LGBTQIA+ identities, trauma, and life transitions. I am currently under the supervision of Tamara Pincus while working towards independent licensure. In my free time I enjoy live music, long walks, playing with my cats, and indulging in reality TV. Please reach out to learn more or start working together towards any and all of your goals.
