Experience and Background of Emily Bove, therapy intern (they/she)
Currently pursuing a Master of Social Work degree, I have a strong background in working with the LGBTQIA2S+ community both academically and in a therapeutic setting. In my academic journey, I strove to learn more about the human condition – what makes us thrive, strive, and be the best selves we can be. Social work calls this strengths-based. Even in the presence of trauma and dissociation we find ways to persevere using our strengths and resources. I thrive working with populations with multicultural identities, and welcome spirituality in session.
I am dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being for individuals of all backgrounds and orientations. My work is guided by a commitment to fostering understanding, acceptance, and empowerment for those navigating complex issues related to sexual orientation and identity.
I am an artistic and bilingual individual, fluent in both English and German, who is passionate about creating a safe and inclusive space. I specialize in providing support for adolescents who are in the process of coming out and forming their identities, adults in consensually non-monogamous relationships and others who fall outside of the mainstream.
Marginalized communities deserve to know that oppression is not just something you can “heal” from, that it is very real, very persistent, and worth holding true as concurrent in identity formation, discovery, and growth. Acceptance of ourselves as flawed and deserving of compassion drives my style, and I look forward to consulting with you. I am deeply invested in supporting individuals in their journey towards self-discovery, self-acceptance, and personal growth.
