Experience and Background of Asha Storm, PhD, MSW Intern (they/them)

We are each on a journey and you do not have to go it alone. As your therapist, I am excited to be a safe, non-judgmental supporter of your journey, wherever you currently are. I am committed to collaborating with you to uncover how past and current experience and systems shape where you are today and help you navigate moving forward. As a supporter of open and authentic communication, I can help you navigate questions around ethical non-monogamy, kink, gender identity, sexual orientation, and more. I see adult individuals virtually. I will support you and challenge you in your journey towards growth and healing.

As a queer, agender, neurodivergent, kinky, polyamorous, and pagan individual, I endeavor to meet you where you are at in your own journey, without judgement and with an understanding of intersectional identities. My background in traumatic stress research, advocacy, biopsychology, and social work provides a holistic understanding of the impact on the mind and body that stress and trauma can cause. I have a passion for working with adults who struggle with the impacts of trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and systemic oppression and instability on their lives. I also have experience supporting first responders, emergency, healthcare, and federal personnel.

I am currently under the supervision of Reese Hebrank, LCSW-C, and in my final year of my MSW program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work to receive my social work license. I have a PhD in traumatic stress research working with nurses from the University of Maryland, School of Nursing. My dissertation was on the protective and risk factors influencing the development of posttraumatic stress symptoms in nurses, three years into the COVID-19 pandemic. I utilize a trauma-informed approach combining skills from parts work, solution focused therapy, CBT, DBT, and folk practice, among others. I have over a decade of experience in both the polyamorous and kinky communities. When I am not studying, I love hiking, reading, anime, art, saving mental health related memes, and cuddling with my cats.
